Our Clinic

Amped Physiotherapy is located on the second floor of Amped Sports Lab and Ice Complex in Ottawa, Ontario. Our address is 2600 Leitrim Road.

Our office is open Monday to Thursday, 7:00am-8:30pm and Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm. We are closed on weekends, statutory and provincial holidays.

Our clinic is on the second floor of Amped Sports Lab and Ice Complex, accessible by stairs. Unfortunately, there is no elevator access to the clinic.

We have a transitional space on the main floor for people who are recovering from an injury that means they cannot do stairs temporarily. The transitional space is not wheelchair accessible and does not have the exercise space needed to allow for the full Amped Physiotherapy treatment approach. If you require a fully-accessible treatment space, we would be happy to direct you to accessible clinics in the area.

Amped Physiotherapy is proud to have several building partners devoted to your health and sport performance goals. Our team is happy to work with our building partners to provide a continuum of care from injury to competition, and everything in between!

Treatment at Amped Physiotherapy

Our physiotherapists evaluate your movement patterns, identify the cause of your pain, and work to eliminate it.

While every patient’s condition and pain is unique, our physiotherapist will use a variety of hands-on assessment and treatment techniques, strength exercises, education and coaching to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels.
Our overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function, and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring.

Typically, the first session, which is an assessment and a treatment, lasts for 1 hour. Follow-up sessions are booked for 30 or 60 minutes. The amount of time will be based on your specific needs, and your therapist will discuss this with you.

Every person is unique and every problem is unique.  Some of our clients eliminate their pain and restore their function in 2 to 3 weeks.  Some problems take 6 to 8 weeks, some can take a few months, and in rare cases, longer.  Treatment should only be continued if it is helping.  If our treatment plan isn’t helping, it should be changed.  The treatment response is highly variable and depends on:

  • How complicated and difficult the problem is
  • How long you have had the problem
  • How significant the structural damage is
  • Your motivation
  • Your ability/willingness to modify your activities, aggravating factors, etc.

At Amped Physiotherapy, your entire appointment time is spent with your treating therapist. Your care includes treatment in a private room, with access to gym-quality strength and conditioning space and equipment.

We don’t turn your care over to assistants and we don’t double book. We specifically analyze you, and recommend the treatment plan that is best for you and your lifestyle. Our assessment and treatment fees reflect the care and attention we provide, and that you deserve!

Physiotherapy is direct access, meaning you can book an appointment to see a physiotherapist without a doctor’s referral. However, your private insurance may require a doctor’s referral for billing under your insurance plan. Please see our FAQs on Insurance for more information on billing physiotherapy treatment under insurance.

Your doctor is an important part of your health care, but busy schedules and waitlists can often result in you waiting for longer than you need to get relief and begin getting back to the activities you love.

Physiotherapists are direct access, meaning you can book an appointment to see a physiotherapist without a doctor’s referral. Our administrative team can often provide you an appointment with one of our skilled physiotherapists within one week, to get you started on your path to recovery!

Physiotherapists are highly-trained in the assessment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries. We devote our entire training to the assessment of bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves. Our physiotherapists can guide you on what, if any, medical intervention or imaging would help in treating your injury.

That is a great question! All of our physiotherapists are highly-trained, evidence-based and lifelong learners. We picked our team to ensure that, regardless of who you see, your care will be of the highest quality.

However, we do try to help you choose a physiotherapist with skills and interests that match your health and performance goals.

Factors that may influence your choice may include:

  • Your preferred language (English or French)
  • Your preferred gender of physiotherapist
  • Your sports and interests
  • Your availability and your preferred physiotherapist’s availability
  • The specialty skills you may need for your care (concussion, pelvic health, vestibular rehabilitation, dry needling or GunnIMS)
  • Your preferred physiotherapist’s wait times

To learn more about which physiotherapist may best match your needs, contact us today at (613)822-9000, ext 1.

Your physiotherapist will talk to you about your areas of concern during your appointment. Sometimes your injuries can be connected, but sometimes they are separate issues with separate assessment procedures.

Your physiotherapist will do their best to address all of your concerns, but please be aware that they may not have the time to assess each of these areas in the initial assessment.

Your physiotherapist will work with you to decide the best course of action for assessing and treating all your areas of concern when you meet with them.

Insurance

If you are hoping to bill through motor vehicle insurance, WSIB or OHIP – please see below for more information on our policies regarding these insurers.

If you hope to bill through private insurance physiotherapy coverage, your Amped Physiotherapy appointments can be submitted to insurance. The amount covered per appointment and number of appointments covered will depend on your individual plan.

While physiotherapy is direct access, some insurance companies do require a doctor’s referral to cover appointments.

Please contact your insurance company to determine your policy’s requirements and coverage limits.

Amped Physiotherapy is able to do direct billing for a number of insurance companies and employer contracts. However, private insurance contracts can vary within each insurance company. You or your employer have negotiated your private insurance coverage. Please check your insurance policy to determine your policy’s coverage and direct billing policies.

Do you treat people injured in car accidents or the workplace? (MVA or WSIB)

While we are happy to treat you for your injury, Amped Physiotherapy does not submit billing or paperwork to motor vehicle insurance (MVA) or WSIB.

Our treatment costs and treatment plans are designed with quality care in mind. Unfortunately, the rigid treatment plans and fixed pricing models for WSIB and MVA insured care does not enable Amped Physiotherapy to do what we do best.

While we are happy to treat you, you will pay for your appointments privately. Please keep in mind that if you choose to submit to these insurance providers yourself, we cannot guarantee that they will cover your care – and if they do agree to cover your care, they may not cover our full rates.

You will also need to be aware that, as we are not submitting to your insurer, we do not fill out paperwork or communicate with adjustors related to your claim.

The Government of Ontario has only provided OHIP public funding to a select number of clinics. Unfortunately, we are not one of those clinics.

To find a clinic that can provide OHIP funded care, please visit https://www.ontario.ca/page/publicly-funded-physiotherapy-clinic-locations

Acupuncture coverage under insurance refers to treatment by Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncturists. Unfortunately, Amped Physiotherapy does not have a TCM acupuncturist on staff.

Acupuncture, dry needling and GunnIMS performed by a trained and rostered physiotherapist falls under the insurance category of physiotherapy treatment, and can only be billed as physiotherapy treatment.
