Jordan is a senior physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical and professional experience, offering a comprehensive perspective on musculoskeletal care, professional training, and health system advocacy. His background spans frontline practice, academic instruction, mentorship, and national leadership. 

He has worked in diverse clinical environments, from public hospital outpatient departments in Toronto to rural practices and private ownership of a sports-focused physiotherapy clinic in suburban Ottawa. His expertise centers on musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, with specialized training in manual therapy (FCAMT), Gunn IMS (dry needling), and strength and conditioning (CSCS). His work includes developing educational content on the neural system’s role in MSK disorders. 

Jordan has held academic and teaching positions at the University of Toronto, Queen’s University, and within the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA), where he has mentored physiotherapists toward advanced credentials. His instructional focus emphasizes clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and professional competency development. 

He is an experienced contributor to professional strategy and advocacy, having served in leadership roles with the CPA’s Orthopedic Division and currently as a Director on the CPA’s national Board. His recent panel engagements have addressed the role of physiotherapists in post-pandemic health care delivery and system reform. 

Jordan brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, teaching acumen, and policy insight. He is particularly passionate about expanding the role of physiotherapists as front-line, primary care providers to meet the growing access challenges in Canadian health care. 

Jordan holds a B.A. (Honours) in Physical Education from Western University, a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy from the University of Toronto, and multiple advanced clinical certifications, including: Fellow, Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists (FCAMT), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and Gunn IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation). 

Stephanie Burans

Stephanie graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics from St. Francis Xavier University in 2008 and a Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Western Ontario in 2010. 

Stephanie has a hands-on approach to treatment and exercise prescription, treating clients of all ages and physical activity levels. She is committed to pursuing continuing education and takes regular post-graduate courses in various methods of physiotherapy assessment and treatment. She has pursued post-graduate education through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and currently holds Level III Upper Quadrant and Level II Lower Quadrant certificates. She is a certified Complete Concussion Management practitioner and a certified GunnIMS practitioner. 

Stephanie has completed the Level I: The Physiotherapy Approach to Male and Female Urinary Incontinence and Level II/III: Female and Male Pelvic Pain courses through Pelvic Health Solutions and training in rehabilitation of the postpartum athlete. She is rostered to practice pelvic health physiotherapy with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. 

Stephanie has taken Level 1 training in NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA).

Stephanie has a special interest in sports rehabilitation.  She has extensive experience in on-field coverage, clinical rehabilitation, and return to sport protocols in football and rugby. Stephanie has provided sport physiotherapy coverage for the Ottawa Sooners football club, Skate Canada National Championships, Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend and Special Olympics Canada Summer Games. 

In addition to her role as a registered physiotherapist at Amped Physiotherapy, Stephanie is also our Clinical Operations Manager. Stephanie manages the day-to-day clinical operations of Amped Physiotherapy, addressing everything from policies and procedures, to the health information provided on our social media, to clinician mentorship and support, to the general organization and flow of the clinic.

In her spare time, Stephanie is active in chasing her two kids, weight training, running and yoga.

Stephanie can be found practicing at Amped Physiotherapy Monday through Thursday mornings, and handling administrative tasks on Fridays. She looks forward to helping you reach your physiotherapy goals!

Aaron Couture
Registered Physiotherapist
RPT, SFMA, TPI-Certified, BPHE, MScPT

Aaron is a Registered Physiotherapist who received his Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Ottawa after completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Health and Education at Laurentian University in Sudbury. He also earned his Personal Trainer designation through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology.

Aaron’s background in both human movement and personal training allowed him to pursue a student trainer role with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League during his time at Laurentian University. As part of this experience, Aaron assisted with the implementation of strength and conditioning routines, and performed fitness testing for elite level athletes. Being with the team every day allowed Aaron to treat, manage and prevent various injuries, as well as prepare the players for game time.

As a Physiotherapist, Aaron uses a combination of patient education, manual therapy and exercise prescription as the foundations to his evidence based practice. Although hockey is one of Aaron’s strong interests, he is very passionate about the career he has chosen and as a result, takes pride in helping athletes of all sports, levels and ages.

Aaron has continued his education by taking post-graduate courses including Functional Dry Needling, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Titleist Performance Institute Certification (TPI), New Trends in the Prevention of Running Injuries and is working his way through his Manual Therapy Levels.

Aaron is a bilingual therapist who is happy to provide services in both English and French.

Aaron has continued his education by taking post-graduate courses including Functional Dry Needling, Mackenzie Part A, the Mulligan Concept: Upper Quadrant, Certified Sports First Responder, and is working his way through his Manual Therapy Levels.

Danny Waugh
Registered Physiotherapist
Dip Sport PT, TPI Medical II, SFMA, BScKIN, MScPT

Danny graduated from McGill University for both his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Master of Science in Physical Therapy and has been practicing Physiotherapy in Eastern Ontario since 2013. During his time at McGill, he played Varsity Football for 2 seasons achieving Academic All Canadian in 2008. He then transitioned to becoming part of the staff while finishing his degrees, and was able to work for 4 seasons as a Trainer and Student Physiotherapist with the Football team before starting his practice.

He has a special interest in treating the sport population and prides his practice on being exercise and manual therapy based. He chose to continue his education with multiple post-graduate courses that have helped round out his practice. In 2019, Danny completed his Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy from Sport Physiotherapy Canada. He also holds post graduate courses in manual therapy Level 1 and 2 Lower Extremity from the Orthopaedics Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT) Levels A&B, Selective Functional Movement Analysis (SFMA), and Functional Dry Needling Levels 1&2.

Ian Lavigne
Registered Physiotherapist

As a Registered Physiotherapist with years of experience in personal training, Ian has dedicated his professional career to learning ways to rehabilitate injuries and optimize the body’s health. Obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa and then following it up with his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2018, Ian serves his local community, helping the people within it reach their health and fitness goals. Ian developed his interest in the field of health and fitness early on when he played elite hockey. Being drafted into the Ontario Hockey League and playing Junior A hockey allowed him the opportunity to be exposed to great fitness coaches and physiotherapists. Having had his fair share of injuries himself during his time playing, he learnt first hand what it takes to rehabilitate an injury, then optimize the body’s performance to get back to playing at a high level. Ian’s educational background makes him strongly believe that the human body’s health depends on multiple factors including, but not limited to, optimized sleep, healthy nutrition, proper stress management, movement and exercise. His evidence-based practice combines patient education, manual therapy and exercise prescription to achieve optimal wellness. Ian is continuing his education by taking multiple post-graduate courses including McKenzie part A – Lumbar Spine, McKenzie part B – Cervical and Thoracic Spine, the Mulligan Concept : Upper Quadrant, Level 1 Cranio-Sacral Therapy with Doreen Killens, PRI (Postural Restoration Institute) – Postural Respiration, AMA (Athletic Movement Assessment) – Upper Extremities. He also completed many strength and conditioning courses including Pinnacle Performance Biomechanics Program and Advanced Biomechanics Program, DTS (Darby Training Systems) Level 1, DTS Hypertrophy, DTS Low Back Course, and many more. Spencer Peters
Registered Physiotherapist
CSCS, BScKIN, MScPT

A native of Morrisburg, Ontario – Spencer is a Physiotherapist with an extensive background in sports performance as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) having worked for 3 seasons as Head of Strength and Conditioning with the Ottawa 67’s, along with experience working alongside the Ottawa RedBlacks,, uOttawa GG’s Football, Ottawa Fury FC, Ottawa Jr. Senators. Spencer obtained his Master’s of Physiotherapy from Leeds Beckett University in Leeds, UK. Over the past several years, Spencer has worked as a Physiotherapist at Brockville General Hospital and Queensway Carleton Hospital working in acute care, rehabilitation, and primarily orthopedics, seeing a large spectrum of patients, ranging from post-surgical to those with chronic injuries. He is currently also a part-time professor at Algonquin College in the OTA/PTA and Fitness and Health Promotion programs. Spencer believes in continuity of care and taking patients from point of injury back to peak performance, drawing on experience working regionally and internationally with high performance athletes, therapists, doctors, and strength coaches.

Dennis Malette

With a passion for helping individuals achieve optimal physical health and wellness, Denise brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to Amped Physiotherapy. As a dedicated and highly skilled bilingual physiotherapy resident, she takes pride in delivering personalized care and evidence-based treatments to address a wide range of physical health concerns/conditions.

Denise earned her Honors Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (French stream) from the University of Ottawa in 2021 and continued her academic journey to attain a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa in 2023 (Bilingual program). These comprehensive academic achievements have equipped her with a deep understanding of the human body and the latest advancements in physiotherapy techniques.

Denise has numerous experiences in her field of interest of sports rehabilitation. She has taken part in a multitude of sport coverage for gymnastics, football, hockey, and volleyball. Noteworthy sports coverage includes the Canadian Gymnastics Championships and the Pan American Volleyball Cup, as well as local/regional sporting competitions and events.

Denise uses the various years of testing her own physical capabilities in competitive sports including (but not limited to) cross-country running, volleyball, and dance, as a means to connect with her patients and understand the multifaceted physical demands of their occupation, sport and/or hobbies.

Born and raised in a Francophone household in Northwestern Ontario, Denise hopes to continue to serve Ottawa and surrounding communities in both French and English.

Jen Hutter

Jen graduated from the University of Toronto in 2021 as the class valedictorian and recipient of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Leadership Award of Excellence. Prior to this, she completed a bachelor’s degree in Honours Kinesiology at McMaster University.

Since graduating, Jen has worked in both clinic and hospital settings in Toronto and couldn’t be more excited to continue her practice in Ottawa. She is experienced in treating a wide range of injuries, including those from sports, repetitive sprains and strains, motor vehicle accidents, and pre/post-surgical conditions. She derives immense fulfillment from getting to know each of her clients’ unique goals and working closely with them to develop personalized plans that address their specific needs.

Jen uses a combination of exercise, soft tissue release, manual therapy, acupuncture, and education to help clients return to the activities that are important to them.

With a strong commitment to ongoing education, Jen has recently completed a Diploma in Advanced Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy. She has also taken numerous courses in the areas of acupuncture, Mulligan Manual Therapy, movement analysis, management of neck and low back pain, arthritis, and chronic pain.

Jen has a love for teaching and provides regular clinical education to physical therapy students across Ontario. She is currently an Adjunct Lecturer with U of T’s Physical Therapy program and previously taught components of the musculoskeletal curriculum at the university’s medical school.

Outside of the clinic and classroom, she can be found hiking, playing pickleball, baking, or lifting weights at the gym.

Lily Stone

Lily studied Psychology at the University of Guelph. She grew up in the outskirts of Ottawa, and has always been passionate about helping the people around her.

Her time in the workforce has been primarily spent with children and animals. She spent many years educating children about animals, ranging from small house pets to large exotic birds. You could say that makes her an expert at handling anything that her day throws at her.

In her spare time, you can find Lily painting, reading, or exploring the outdoors. She loves the opportunity to experience new places and learn new things.

Lily is an important piece of the engine that keeps our clinic running. Her focus is on the satisfaction of our clients, and the management of our administrative staff. Behind the scenes, Lily works hard to ensure that our wonderful clients have everything they need. From scheduling or insurance concerns to movie recommendations, Lily is dedicated to making everyone feel at home here at Amped Physiotherapy.

Tanya Colwell
Business Operations Manager

Tanya obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University and brings over 20 years of experience as a Project Manager. She earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and has successfully led diverse projects on a global scale. Her background contributes to strong planning, operational efficiency, and a results-driven approach.

In 2021, Tanya joined Amped Physiotherapy as the Business Operations Manager. In this role, she oversees functions such as process improvement, clinic statistics and data analysis, billing oversight, and client feedback initiatives—including the occasional survey you may receive!

Tanya also has a deep personal interest in health and wellness, which inspired her to pursue a diploma in nutrition and become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN). She values a balanced, healthy lifestyle both professionally and personally.

Outside of work, Tanya enjoys traveling, staying active with her family, and working out at the gym.

Jennifer Melymick

Jennifer is the Director of Finance and Human Resources at Amped Physiotherapy as well as Amped Sports Lab and Ice Complex.

She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Carleton University in Finance and has worked in the field for over 30 years. In addition, she has experience in Human Resources helping both Employers and Employees with their needs, concerns and overall working experience.

Jennifer has an interest in sports and sports management. She has been an avid volleyball player for most of her life and enjoys watching her kids play their sports.  Fitness is a big part of her life and she spends time in the FitQuest gym beside the clinic, as well as partaking in the amazing services at Amped Physiotherapy.

You may not see Jennifer in the clinic, however she is working behind the scenes to help keep the business functioning well!
